When ChatGPT first launched, Public spotted an opportunity. They asked: How could this technology potentially benefit retail investors? And thus, Alpha was born in 2023. Think of it as a chat interface and research assistant for investing FAQs. Questions like “Why is this stock moving?” or “Can you show me an earnings report?” can be given a considered response, providing background data to help make faster decisions.
In fact, in recent years of AI being available for market questions, retail investors have been doing just that. Public found that with AI, 25% of members who use Public’s Alpha make a trade within three hours of asking a question.
But speed doesn’t necessarily beget accuracy. This begs the question: Where is the balance? With AI arriving in a big way on the investing scene, where will it be used outside of research? Early use cases are showing AI can help retail investors build customized portfolios based on the themes they’re interested in.
To learn more, Brew Markets’ Ann Berry sits down with Stephen Sikes, COO of Public, to discuss what’s next for AI usage in the retail investing space. Tune in to find out.
